The Boxing Federation of India (BFI)

The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) is the recognised national governing body for amateur boxing in India, responsible for the growth, promotion, and regulation of the sport across all levels. Since its inception, BFI has played a pivotal role in nurturing generations of champions who have brought honour to the nation on the global stage.

A proud member of World Boxing, the global governing body for Olympic-style boxing, BFI remains actively engaged in advancing the sport’s integrity, competitiveness, and global presence. India’s growing influence in international boxing reflects the federation’s sustained focus on performance, professionalism, and grassroots development.

BFI works closely with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to ensure India’s boxers receive world-class facilities, scientific training, and international exposure. The federation’s programmes are designed to align with global standards, empowering athletes to compete confidently against the world’s best.

Over the decades, Indian boxing has achieved remarkable success under BFI’s stewardship—producing Olympic medalists, World and Asian Champions, and a steady pipeline of international medallists at the youth and junior levels. With a deep-rooted commitment to excellence, the federation continues to identify, develop, and support boxing talent from every corner of the country through structured national championships, elite training camps, and a transparent, merit-based selection system.

In November 2025, BFI will further cement India’s position on the global boxing map as it hosts the prestigious World Boxing Cup Finals 2025 at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex, Greater Noida. The week-long event, scheduled from November 14 to 21, will feature the world’s top boxers from over 18 nations, including Olympic medallists and World Champions, competing for one of the sport’s most coveted trophies.

Driven by a vision to make India a world boxing powerhouse, the Boxing Federation of India continues to champion the sport with pride, purpose, and passion—building on a legacy of resilience, discipline, and sporting excellence.
